These markets are held on Saturday and Monday mornings around La Fruita, Barcelona and Madrid Squares. Shoppers can browse among the dozens of stalls that sell clothes, shoes, plants, ironmongery, pets, food, fabrics and a long etcetera. Elche’s outlying districts also have their own markets: Torrellano on Friday mornings and La Marina and L’ Altet on Thursday afternoons.
An itinerant fruit and vegetable market selling fresh produce direct from Elche’s market gardens visits a different barrio, or district, of the city every day.
