Easter Monday and the Monday of San Vicente
Date: The Mondays following Easter Sunday
These festivities are traditionally called the first and second “lunes de mona”. The people of Elche spend the day at the beach or in the country, the traditional lunch being a “mona” – a type of “fogasseta”, or round brioche-type pastry and with a hard-boiled egg in the middle. The second lunes de mona is also the fiesta of San Vicente Ferrer which is celebrated with religious offices in the parish that bears his name.
