Virgin of the Assumption
Date: August 10th – 15th
At the heart of these fiestas is the Elx Mystery Play, performed between August 14th and 15th (with full dress rehearsals on the 11th, 12th and 13th of August). The Play has been declared a Masterpiece of World Oral and Intangible Heritage by UNESCO. It is also distinguished as a National Artistic Monument and as a Fiesta of International Tourist Interest. Other fiestas of note taking place around this event are the Nit de l’Albà and the traditional Roà.
Moreover, the Organising Committee of Popular Celebrations organises the Charanga, or brass band concert, visitor’s day, the Rice with a Burnt Base Competition and the floral offering to Our Lady of the Assumption with the participation of the Casa de Andalucía and the Unió de Festers del Camp d’Elx.

A lyrical medieval drama, declared a Masterpiece of World Oral and Intangible Heritage by UNESCO in 2001.
Elx Palm Grove
Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2000, the Palm Grove has over 200,000 palm trees.
