Date: August 14th
The Virgin Mary’s death at the end of the Mystery Play’s first act is the starting point of a long night’s vigil of the image of the city’s Patroness. Following a serenade to the Virgin at midnight the popular Roà begins. Thousands of townspeople bearing lit candles walk through the streets where the walls of the city used to stand. Also, during this night the music coming from the numerous marquees erected throughout the city give a pagan touch to the events.
