Roads

img: Elche boasts magnificent road and dual carriageway communicationsThe A – 7 (European route E – 15) links Elche to the rest of the Mediterranean Coast and Europe whilst another important long-distance road is the N – 330, part of the basic Spanish road system, connecting Alicante with the rest of the Iberian Peninsula. There is also a system of secondary roads such as the N – 340 linking Alicante, Elche and Murcia via Orihuela that complement the above, while the N – 332 coastal road connects the Elche coast with other tourist resorts. Furthermore, work has recently begun on the Alicante – Murcia (A – 32) toll motorway that will provide a high-speed road link between the two cities.

By Train and Coach

img: The high speed train will soon stop in Elche Elx is midway along the local railway network between Alicante and Murcia and thus boasts a frequent train service in both directions. Being close to both provincial capitals provides the city with easy access to the rest of Spain. The railway traverses the city through a tunnel and has two stations in the city itself and a stop in the outlying district of Torrellano.

The construction project for the future Madrid-Alicante AVE high speed train link also includes a stop in Elche, further enhancing the city’s communications.
