The Torre de Calendura tower is close to Elx Town Hall, the oldest town hall in the southern part of the Valencian region. It houses a clock with automata built by Alonso Gaytán in 1572. The clock has two figures, and since 1759 the figure that tells the hours has been known as Miquel Calendura while the smaller figure that tells the quarter hours has been known as Vicentet Calendureta.
