The Elx coastline, measuring approximately 9 km., is made up of the following beaches from North to South:
L’Altet Beach: extension 1620 ml.With Blue Flag
Els Arenals del Sol Beach: extension 1410 ml
El Carabassí Beach: extension 2660 ml
El Pinet Beach: extension 730 ml
La Marina Beach: extension 1100 ml.With Blue Flag
Les Pesqueres-El Rebollo Beach: extension 1360 ml. With Blue Flag
The beaches of Elx are amongst the least urbanised beaches on the Spanish Mediterranean coast. They are very well preserved and are of great ecological value.
This year the European Foundation for Environmental Education (EFEE) has awarded three Blue Flags, the same as last year, which have been given to l’Altet, la Marina and les Pesqueres-El Rebollo.
Nevertheless, all the other beaches also deserve this award since they all have optimum results regarding the all year round quality of the water. The lack of some services (due precisely to the high level of natural preservation), doesn’t allow them to have those awards. Water analysis is carried out monthly in the low season and weekly from June, 15 to September, 15. They can all be checked in the Information Boards, which you will find in each of the beaches’ main entrance road.
The presence of a Blue Flag in the beach stimulates the effort carried out to achieve the demands required including concepts such as: legality, health, cleaning and security, without forgetting all the necessary information and environmental management policies.
On the other hand, the beaches of Elx were pre-selected for a “themed award” regarding “water rescue” and although we finally didn’t get the award it was a great honour to have been selected.
